- The Council selected 22 California libraries to participate in the upcoming “How I See It: My Place” teen photography and writing program. The program will take place this summer and fall and culminate with an online exhibit. To find out more, visit the How I See It: My Place page on the Council’s website.
- We have a winning name for the Council’s upcoming website on immigration and migration to California - We Are California: Stories of Immigration and Change. Thanks to all of you who submitted names. We received hundreds of creative suggestions. And stay tuned for our site launch this fall.
- The Council received 107 applications for funding under the California Story Fund, and staff is currently reviewing proposals. Decisions will be made by the end of March. The guidelines for the July 2008 round of funding will be posted on April 1, 2008.
- Calling all jazz lovers. April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and many events are planned around the country. As part of the celebration, the National Endowment for the Humanities is featuring resources and lesson plans on its website. And the organizer of the celebration, Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, has issued a new Jazz poster featuring Ella Fitzgerald.
