Candacy Taylor reports that her photography and oral history project about older career waitresses is featured in the latest issue of the AARP magazine. Taylor has devoted six years to telling waitresses’ stories, traveling 10,000 miles photographing and interviewing career waitresses in several states, including, most recently, Kentucky. Taylor’s project is an outgrowth of her 2005 California Story Fund project on career waitresses in San Francisco.

Taylor says that a book and radio documentary are in the works and that her waitress exhibit —“Dishing It Out” — is available for touring through Subject Matters, an organization that organizes circulating exhibitions in collaboration with contemporary artists and photographers.
